What a trailer tire is for.
Trailer tires are marked ST. They are built with stiffer sidewalls to carry load and resist sway, and they are not interchangeable with car or light-truck tires.
Two numbers matter most: the size, and the load range or ply rating, which has to cover the weight on each tire with the trailer loaded. Check the speed rating on the sidewall too, because many trailer tires are rated lower than car tires.
Trailers sit, so trailer tires usually age out before they wear out. Check the date code before the season, and cover the tires if the trailer is parked in the sun. How to read a tire’s age.
